I just got back from a meeting and went to see a client and I knew she’s already got LPAs, which is great, so I went to discuss wills and trusts. But I started talking a little bit more about the LPAs and I said how long have you had them?
I went to see a lovely gentleman in his 90s to discuss his Lasting Powers of Attorney. Towards the end of our conversation, I asked him if there was anything else he wanted to talk about.
As much as I remain professional, I can’t help but form attachments to some of my clients—especially the older ones, where we spend a lot of time together, discussing their situations in detail and explaining things to them and their families.
It’s a privilege to help those in difficult times. Today I was at the Royal Free Hospital, supporting a family and providing an ‘Emergency’ Will within 24 hours of instruction. The morale of the story- don’t put it off!
With Government Inheritance Receipts up by £400m to £1.75b in 2023 there is a strong risk than unless you take action; your legacy will be eroded as it passes down through the generations. Tax avoidance ( NOT evasion) is NOT the preserve of the Rich and Famous; but ‘everyday’ people like you who have worked and saved to create a nest egg for your family.
How? The magic word is TRUSTS. Simple to put in place and highly cost effective. Be a hero to your family and let them inherit the tax efficient way.
